We will send proposals to each of your creditors fifteen days prior to your first payment, listing the balances you gave us when you first called and outlining the payment plan established. Please be aware that not all creditors will process your proposals immediately and it may take a few weeks for them to notify us whether or not the proposal has been accepted. Some creditors may request a slightly higher payment than that proposed and if so we will notify you immediately.

Timely and consistent payments are crucial to your success on the program. During the first three months, your creditors will assess benefits like reduced interest rates and waved late fees. It is essential that you make your payments on time every time. Some creditors can take up to three consecutive payments before they offer benefits.

It is most important to monitor your statements from your creditors each month. If you do not see benefits applied by the time you have made your 4th payment on the program, please contact us. It is also important that you monitor the statement that AFS sends you each month - this will show the payments we are making on your behalf.

The collection calls should stop after your 3rd payment has posted with your creditors. Try to be patient during the first 3 months. Advise collectors that you are working with AFS. If they are particularly persistent, provide them with the number to our Creditor Services Department, 1-888-282-5491. They can call this number to verify that you are enrolled on the program and when to expect your first payment.

Monitor your statements carefully each month. When you see that an account is about to be paid in full, contact us so that we may set up the pay off and allocate the funds to another one of your creditors. Make all of your payments through the program, including the last one.

By following the advice above you will be well on your way to becoming debt free!
